Amid reports that many people are without potable water, Culligan International Company is donating five semi-trailer trucks full of bottled drinking water to Gulf Coast residents in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
Culligan is providing shipments of bottled water to residents of Mobile, AL, Biloxi, MS, and Gulfport, MS through the non-profit organization Convoy of Hope, which is dedicated to supplying relief to disaster victims around the world. Culligan, one of the best-known producers and distributors of bottled water and water treatment products, is also providing bottled water to the American Red Cross for its use in other areas of need.
“Safe drinking water is a vital part of life, something that many Americans take for granted every day. After a disaster like this, having safe drinking water is an essential human need. We are proud to join the relief efforts to help victims of this terrible hurricane as they pull their lives back together,” said Mark Glenn, bottled water manager for Culligan.
Culligan has a history of providing bottled water following disasters, including hurricanes, tornadoes, the India Ocean tsunami of December 2004 and the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
