Local Water Experts Working to Serve Residents After Lead Emergency
Culligan of Flint, local provider of water quality treatment, will deliver 1,000 faucet mount filters to the Flint Red Cross on behalf of Culligan International today. The filters are certified by the Water Quality Association (WQA) to National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) standards to meet adsorption and filtration standards for lead reduction.
The filters are the latest donation in Culligan’s ongoing efforts to support local residents during this time of crisis.
“Our hearts go out to all of the residents of Flint,” said Greg Cornell, General Manager of Culligan of Flint. “We’re doing what we can to help area residents with recent water contaminants and be of service to them.”
Since Governor Rick Snyder declared a state of emergency on Jan. 5, Culligan of Flint donated 4,032 one-gallon water bottles – an entire truckload – to Flint area public schools. Culligan International also sent two truckloads of bottled water to the area.
“We offer several products that are certified for lead reduction,” said Cornell. “We also have bottled water as an immediate solution.”
Since lead levels in the water vary depending on residents’ locations and other factors, Cornell also advises every resident to get their water tested.
“We had an increase in inquiries beyond city limits as well,” Cornell said. “Even folks outside of Flint are educating themselves about possible water contaminants and finding quality solutions.”
